Read in the news section that APD is curable. Not sure I'm buying that. Many conditions are treatable but not curable. If there is some switch in the brain that makes us lean left, we can train ourselves to lean right, but does the switch change? Some research says that behaviors can make the brain change. OK not going to get obsessed over this! Promise! Not that important.

Addiction like alcoholism are not cureable in thatthe alcoholic can never drink normally. It is treatable in the sense that abstinence and personal and spiritual growth allow you to live well if you remain abstinent

Also I mean like I mentioned in the news this is a pretty new diagnosis so hey maybe we are looking at treatable instead of curable there is still a lot of information that we definitely don't know yet so you could be right or any of us really.

I'll be sure to keep everyone updated as to what people in the field are saying as I see them.

It may be new as a DX, in fact I didn't even know it was one.However, it's been discussed for decades "The addictive personality"
One long suggested theory is positive addiction.

Awww, Twi, nobody is expecting you to be the wizard. I was posing a question to ponder is all. We are trying to understand ourselves & change behaviors that have dictated our choices.

Ha, Don't Tread I check this forum quite often. Always up for knowing anything new I can on addiction. Funny, you said that though, as I have a serious DS addiction. That's me, always switching addictions. As far as that goes, it is far better than many.
This is an interesting subject. Makes me think of the AA reading that says "Science may one day accomplish this, though it hasn't done so yet". I don't know if I buy the idea of it being "curable{. I think I agree with others here. I know I have no "off" switch.

Great thread, I agree this is my favorite new addiction! It is a positive addiction. I love trading all my negative addictions for positive healthy addictions.
