Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
We live in Texas so the summers are really long and really hot! Although this year, I have to say I'm like you and ready for some warmer weather. :) Good Luck with the hat hunting and stay cool!

Having a bald head was somehow a badge of honor for me. I was/am a survivor. I was sure to put sunscreen on when I took my daily walks outside but I never wore a hat. I just to like things on my head. My hair grew back VERY fast-see your other post on this topic so it was not an issue for very long. Also, I teleworked full time from home and did not go into a public building for almost a full year.
The social workers where I was treated had many hats to choose from.
You may like wearing a Buff. A Buff is a microfiber sleeve that can be worn in a myriad of ways throughout the day or under scratchy hats. For summer especially, get the high UV protection Buffs. There are so many different styles and colors. About $20 either online (www.buyabuff.com or www.buffwear.com) or your local outdoors store (like REI).
I also like to just go to my local fabric store and buy a yard (or a yard and a quarter for a perfect square) of a beautiful cotton BATIK fabric. (Get batik fabric so that it will be the same on both sides.) Simple fold the fabric on the diagonal and cut it on the fold, forming two triangle scarves. About $15.
I usually like to wear e buff under my scarf or hat. But wear what feels comfortable for you. Or go bare!
Hugs,
Monique
