Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

L. I have a rare genetic mutation apparently. So prayers please.

Praying for you. Since Brandi's recent diagnosis all our friends and family are joining the National/International bone marrow registry. I wish everyone (including us) would have joined before diagnosis.....like most people it never occurred to us. Hang tough.

Dear Tammy,

We are sending prayers for a match to be found but they might look to do a cord blood transplant which from what I have read they are having very good results. Trust your Dr.'s they will come up with the right plan for you.

Seems that there was a discrepancy with this mutant gene they found. It wasn't a mutant, they couldn't see what they needed and when they looked at second sample, they found that I'm normal and have 8 potential matches! Hooray! They are also checking my double cousins (a set of brothers, my dad and uncle, married a set of sisters, my mom and aunt) so my two cousins are genetically closer than any of my half siblings. They aren't even looking at half siblings. It's not in breeding! Read it again. People always think it's odd but it's really not.
