Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
I just wanted to give an update on Hayley. Today is actually 19 months post transplant and things are going great still. Office visits have been pushed out to 3 months now. Only small complaints are just a little fatigued and dry mouth. Liver tests are up and down but not bad. All other blood counts are normal. Piles of medicines have dwindled down to just a few. Praise God!!
Back in September we made contact with her donor. She had been on the registry for 10 years and really had forgotten about it until she was contacted as a possible match for Hayley. She is from northern Colorado. On January 9th Hayley, myself and our 2 boys (13 & 8) flew to Denver and met her and her family. Quite a difference in northern Colorado and northern Mississippi. lol We spent a few days getting to know them and also had a big celebration (party) where 7 people joined the donor registry. At their church their pastor used the story in his sermon and they also hosted a blood drive and the donor registry was there. Thank God for donors. It was a very emotional but fantastic trip!!
I love this site and the people on it. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the middle of the battle right now and for the ones like Hayley who have been thu it and continue to recover.

It is SO good to know how well Hayley is doing! I've wondered about how things are going and feel such relief and happiness to know that she has recovered her good health and can put the worry and fear of AML behind her. Wishing you and your family all the best as you continue to move forward!

I had some issues with my liver tests as well. May not have been the same, but what helped me a bit was taking SAMe supplement. It was recommended by my fried - naturopathic doc. you may want to do some research on it. My onc was OK with it and my liver tests got to normal after about 2 months.

What a miracle and answer to prayer Haley s healing is. I went back and re read all your posts to remind myself about your journey. I pray Scott is reading this post because he is going to vandy for his sct.
I absolutely loved the story about meeting Haley s donor and the connection with the sermon. How inspiring. God had truly blessed you and I'm sure your prayer is similar to mine. Please Lord allow me to raise my previous children.
