Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

I finally figured out how to sign back in to this group! Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Keir is now 18 months post sct. He is looking for part time work and seems to be doing well. We are still with Loyola and he has gotten three rounds of vaccinations. Next week on the 19th, he goes for bloodwork so may i ask you all for prayers/good wishes? On the 26th of this month will be the 2nd anniversary of his diagnosis, a tough time for us.

My parents have both been ill in the past few months so i've been a bit 'out of things' but thing of you all very often.

So outstanding to read this great report on Keir, he remains in my family's daily prayers! We will pray specifically for great labs on the 19th. The 17th I get mine and I'm praying my counts start trending up. The two year anniversary is huge and I remember well your anguish as a mother at Keirs dx. I have said often, I'm so glad I have aml and not one of my daughters.

Lori, it's so good to hear from you and great to hear that Keir is doing well. I think of you and him often and I have always kept you in my thoughts and prayers. I've also been hoping that you have found some peace of mind. I know you struggled with anxiety since his diagnosis. I hope that with the passage of time you have been able to resume a somewhat normal life and find some time for yourself. Sorry to hear about your parents, it's difficult to balance the needs of everyone.

Good luck next week, I'm sure everything will be OK. And drop by from time to time and keep us updated. Take care.

Keir has been a champ from day 1. You should anticipate his 2nd anniversary with happiness. As Dave said, every month of wellness translates to an even more promising future. It is time for the #1 MOM to smile.

Keir had his check up yesterday and he is good. All his numbers are i the normal range. I am so grateful. Thank you for all your support. In a few weeks it will be two years since I joined this group. I was sitting in the family area of Rush hospital in Chicago and felt I was trapped in a bad dream. This group gave me information, love, and hope. Keir is looking for a job now and keeping as busy as possible. A very different dawn indeed.
