Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Keir is doing well - went ice skating yesterday and is jobhunting. in two months he'll have his 2nd year transplant anniversary. Thanks for all the support and prayers- invaluable.

Lori, Keir and I will both be the 'terrible two's' by then - watch out! From memory Keir and I were very close together in our dates - mine is February 12th - so unbelievable that the nightmare is beginning to be a distant memory and very grateful to be able to reach that milestone as I'm sure you are for Keir as well. Well done, mum - you've done an awesome job in being his advocate and helping him get this far.

I said from the very beginning that Keir would be a superstar and absolutely nothing - from the way he tolerated the ordeal of treatment to how he is now - contradicts what I had predicted.

Also, you are the world's greatest Mom. Happy Chanukah.

Great to see you back on the site, Lori. And I'm so happy to learn of Keir's success. I think of you both often. Before you know it this will be nothing but a distant memory and life will be full steam ahead. I hope you are taking care of yourself. Enjoy the holidays and come back often.

Hi Lori

I was so happy to see the update about Keir. His journey has so closely followed in time my husband's. I cannot believe it been almost two years post transplant for the both of them. My husband,Harry, will hit that milestones next month. It's even harder to believe that there are now days where I don't even think about leukemia. When we were in the "thick" of it all that was something I couldn't imagine. So pleased he is doing so well!
