Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Keir is now 7 months post transplant and had started back to school. On Thursday he felt congested. We called the clinic and they suggested Sudafed, along with the usual warnings about watching for fever. By Saturday he seemed a bit better, but on Saturday night, his temp was awfully close to the magic (or evil) 100.3 So on Sunday morning we took him to Loyola and it turns out he has the new and virulent entero irus going around.
This is his first infection since diagnosis. I had been SO careful! But he was given the green light to get out ad do things and of course being a young man and normal person wanted to do just that. He is home being cared for (thank God he did not need admitted) but this virus can go to pneumonia quickly in some cases so he is being carefully watched while we are pushing fluids and rest.
His bloodwork, at least, was good and as of today, chest x-ray clear. But I am the expected wreck. Last weekend was spent in the ER with my daughter (suspected kidney stone) and I think I may end up in the padded room soon. Anyway, prayers for an uneventful recovery for Keir would be most welcomed.. thank you all

Keir is always in my prayers. I hope that he gets over this virus fast and that you dont end up in a padded.

Just keep him out of the cold and people until its clears up... keep up the water very important and im sure im telling you to suck eggs but keep doing the breathing exercise to expand those lungs :)
Also remember not to stress as he may take a little longer to get over the flu then he did before :)

Please let them know Keir is doing well - a year ago tomorrow we found out his donor had dropped out but soon he had another and on Feb. 13 it will be his 1st "rebirthday."
I know you will continue to pray for Keir and all of Lori's family. May God's richest blessings fall on you all as you enjoy your family and friends in this wonderful season -- dave
