Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Hi all,

Keir began school (part time) last week and so has been a bit tired. overall things seem to be going well He is nearly 7 months post transplant now. Today he was feeling rather fatigued and it scared me but everything scares me

Keir goes for his doctor visit/cbc on Wednesday. May I ask for prayers tha all continues to go well? I am especially nervous this time, I think, because it is the one year anniversary of his diagnosis. Every little thing - fatigue, something feeling "odd" - drives me crazy. that is the really hard part. Anyway, prayers for his Wed. appointment much appreciated. keir has some fatigue, especially in the mornings - but otherwise we hae been fortunate. May it continue.. Praying for you all

Hello again Lori. Keir will continue to be in my prayers as he has been since you joined our group. I also keep your well being close to my heart as I can feel the pain you are going through and pray that it gets a little better each day.

Fatigue is not unusual, it's the most common complaint of transplant patients, but I know how you are and you're not going to relax until you get a clean cbc.

I just passed my 2 year diagnosis date and it was hard, I tried to keep busy to take my mind off it. It's become like September 11th for me, a day nobody wants to remember.

There are so many things in everyday life that now have a meaning related to my disease and I'm sure you will relate things the same way. But one day it will be over and life will be back to normal. I know for me that day cannot come too soon. Good luck Wednesday and I'll be praying extra hard.

our doctors and nurses said sleep was good as it is when your body repairs itself :) ... he has had a big 12 months so I think that a little fatigue is good if that's all he has at the moment :)

Thinking of you both but sounds like everyone is getting back into the groove of it all :)

some of that fatigue is probably coming from that little extra stress and anxiety of returning to school and into society again. Its a little scarey when you get back into the things after the isolation that we have all faced with this disease.

Sending my prayers to you both for good results and some comfort for you. Keir will do great!!

We will all be praying that Keir's tests go well. You and your family are always in my prayers. Try to let the Lord do your worrying -- read Matthew 6 again. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof -- this means to take it one day at a time and enjoy the day for what it is. Deal with today's problems and tomorrows may never even be there. Take care of yourself -- daveB
