Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
On a upbeat note, last Friday was 2 years since my BMT. I still can see in my mind "Happy Birthday!" written by my nurse on the board that morning. It was rather anti-climatic then. Little I knew about the roller-coaster ride that started shortly after.
2 years later I'm well. Major issue is my small airways restriction that is being monitored. Smaller ones: dry eyes and mouth.
Blood tests are all normal except just under normal red cell count.
I live 100% normal life. I feel that I'm constantly improving, although at slow pace. About every 3 months I feel a noticeable improvent. Perhaps my body is still elliminating toxins from the treatments.
