Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Ive read about everyones battles lately and hopefully this will add some hope and cheer.

I celebrated my 1yr transplant birthday on Jan 8th, so im a year and 12 days old today :). I had my bone marrow on Jan 2nd and it came back clear.

My point to all this is... Keep God first in you life, stay healthy, and keep your spirits up and you all will do fine. Ive been blessed and so very thankful to God and everyone for there support...

Phil -- we need some good news and I am so glad that you have brought it. There are many who are reading who may be thinking of giving up hope. Those of us who are survivors need to be here to tell our stories and give hope to those who are still struggling. Thanks so much and I am hoping that many others like you who have made it one more year or maybe just one more month will come aboard and help us out in trying to help others make it through their various ordeals. PHIL -
I remember last year and Our Team Transplant. We have all made it through transplant and here we are one year out talking about it. what an amazing gift, when we had so much to fear. What a great opportunity we have all been given. The unknowns, the fear, the support we gave each other.....beyond anything I could or would have imagined.
I am so happy to celebrate your great news.

Congrats Phil. I feel almost guilty to post that I too have reached my first anniversary (Jan 23rd). My preliminary BMB results are very promising. Reading about Ed's and Andrea's renewed fight however, puts things in prospective.
I do live with plenty of reminders that I'm not quite healthy, but once a while I actually do forget about all of it and feel "normal" for a half day or so. I go to work full time. This feels still like a privilege to me which causes endless amusement among my "I hate it's Monday" friends.
So I'm cautiously optimistic that my life is slowly heading into a boring "normal" phase, although it is going to be a "different normal" for sure.
