Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Mum was booked in for her BMT to start on Monday the 10th of March...
Last week she had a skin infection around the mastectomy wound due to the lymph nodes being removed. She went into hospital for intravenous antibotics for 5 days which apart from that she felt like a hospital fraud (she lives country so it was easy to admit her then her driving back and forth 3 times a day)
Anyway BMT doctor asked for her to come up early for appointment tomorrow (Friday) He will check the area (it has gone down) and make a decision if the BMT goes ahead.
Bloods taken at hospital HB 116, Platelets 155 WBC 2.6 no blast cells, neutrophils a little low at 1.74 but not surprising considering she has an infection
crossing fingers we can get this show on the road

I am glad to hear your Mum's infection has lessened. I'll be praying that the doctor gives the green light. Thank you for the update.

I can so relate to your Mum's concern of relapse. It seems we were diagnosed close to the same time. I was diagnosed on March 22nd and in remission since April 26th.

Was emergency patient off the boat on the 1st of April and diagnosed that day.
Im guessing she got the pneumonia due to low immune system due to the AML.
