Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Although I was not admitted for chemo I am cautiously optimistic that my counts are improving. I am at day 62 since the start of my last consolidation. Here are my stats:
WBC from 3.4 to 4.4
Hematocrits from 29.8 to 32.0
Neut from 2.3 to 2.7
Platelets from 73 to 84
The Dr's plan is to wait a week and if the platelets are not to 100, preform my 6th BMB to ensure the leukemia has not returned. He believes that is unlikely because I had a normal BMB on 6 June and the marrow is producing cells. He stated that most patience get subsequent rounds between day 28 to 35-I am official outside of the bell curve. But he also added that my favorable cytogetics are in my favor. I am confident in God's divine providence for me and my family! Please, please pray for me

We are almost on the same boat. Our counts are almost identical. You can read my case in thread Dids123. Sometimes the platelet takes a long time recover. My ONC told me as long as your counts are stable not to worry. I started my last round of consolidation with platelet of 78. You are in my prayers as everyone else on this site.

Dids is right. The return of counts seems to be very idiosyncratic. Some people will return to normal levels very quickly after induction and consolidations, while others have marrows that take their sweet time. Stability of counts is key as you wait to have them rise. Everyone is different, so don't sweat it. It all sounds good.
