Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Lymph node

Has anyone had a lymph node swell? I have a cold and I know a lymph node in the neck swelling from a cold can be normal. It bothers me though as this was the initial symptom before my diagnosis. I had a swollen node in my neck with a cold and neither ever went away. Just wondering if anyone had a cold/lymph node that resolved and didn't lead to relapse.

I never experienced swollen lymph however, I do understand how repeat symptoms can be stressful. You just had a clean bmb. I would cling to that fact. There are so many bad colds going around right now. I have a chest cold right now. I have not had a cold like this for years. Please try to enjoy completed your chemo and regaining your life back. I know this is hard but please try.I'm paying that your cold will resolve soon.

Julie, I know you are right. I have to get past this anxiety and paranoia. It's a bad cold and all three of my kids have it. It's an irrational fear right now. I had a clean bmb April 28 and a blood test just this past Wednesday with nothing alarming other than platelets still at 79 but I'm usually slow with platelets. You understand! I also am pretty sure this bump/lymph node has been around before cancer was even a part of my life. And so I will put my worries in God's hands and trust that all will be well.

I would never call any fear associated with aml irrational because as you know this whole journey is so horrific on so many levels. I always and still struggle with platelets. I am 18 months post my last chemo and my platelets have only been in the normal range once. They are at 124 right now. I follow Dave Brown's advice and I don't run with scissors :-)
