Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
You must be a very good friend. Take a deep breath.
If your friend, has AML, the journey will be a long one and the only way to manage is one step at a time. Only worry about today and the next few steps. My brothers transfusions were all day affairs so take things to occupy your time and attention.
Hopefully once you see the specialists, they can give you a clearer idea of the road ahead. Chances are your friend will be hospitalized for several weeks, giving you time to get your head around all this and its affect on your life.
Where is the specialist? Hopefully one of the best places here on the East coast since you obviously were impacted by the storm as were we.
Twilight
I really am hoping they keep him and do something to get this nightmare treated.
