Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

I also wonder. I have been told it is because they are both blood cancers. Interestingly, my only full sibling, my brother was dxd with stage four diffused b cell non Hodgkin lymphoma about a year ago. I went with him to his first meeting with the oncologists for support and to better understand how two siblings who have lived a"healthy life" no smoking, or drugs or alcohol could get blood cancer I
At 48 and 58. My onc had already told me that aml was not heriditary. Both of doc confirmed that there is no link between these cancers
