Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Sorry that I have been AWOL for a while. Julian came home about a week and a half ago, so whenever I am not working, I am playing with the kids. I wanted to give a quick update though. Julian had his bone marrow biopsy last Monday. We found out today that morphology and Minimal Residual Disease testing are showing "no immunophenotypic evidence of residual AML." We are feeling so incredibly blessed with these post-induction results! I was literally on my knees praising the Lord at work when I got the news. Julian will be moving on to his outpatient work up appointments in Minneapolis as soon as they get everything scheduled (I would imagine in the next few days). I am nervous, but also very hopeful and encouraged by this great initial response to treatment! Until then, we get to enjoy more semi-normal at home time! You have all been in my thoughts and prayers daily. Julian recognizes names of those that we pray for daily---many children and many people on this site. I will update again as I know more about the weeks to come!
