Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
So after an excruciating long weekend with no answers....we still have no answers! Pathologist said there are 4% blasts but he can't tell if it's in blood or marrow because sample isn't great. Pathologist thinks it's blood. However, my question is this: in past 10 days, I've had 5 blood draws at 3 different labs. 2 draws were same day as bmb. None of them showed blasts or anything in the manual different other than low counts. Here are my lowest and most recent:

Those were Friday. Now, I'd had an illness (dr assume viral) for a solid month. Dec 19-Jan 17. Got antibiotic Jan 14 fo a 10 day course. Symptoms cleared Jan 17. Now today, Jan 25 I have cough, low grade fever of 99.4-99.6, mild nasal congestion and mild headache. Same symptoms I had at initial diagnosis but had them for over 3 weeks. Bottom line: I think I'm relapsing. Can anyone see any reason in all these details that perhaps would give me hope?

I hate that you're going through this, the torture of awaiting results is cruel. I think what the pathologist means is that there are blood marrow samples and bone samples (what they sometimes call the core samples) I'm certain they also sent out for Cytogentics,fish,&pcr testing plus a karotype. These tests give definitive results but usually take longer.
The pathologist should have seen if the blasts were normal immature developing cells that all of us have, or if they are leukemiac, as these appear different, & have auer rods. I'd ask a few more questions

I had fever of 102.5 w chills
Very achy, and I was vommitting every 45 min, and terrible diarrhea,
The GI, nausea stuff lasted 12 hours, then th fever and chills etc came. There was/is a horrible Norovirus (Gastroenteritis) going around, I feel like our whole county got hit bad
Then my 3 year old and Tony got it, was terrible 72 hours but we made it through. I wouldn't normally wish that on anyone, but it sounds similar and I'm hoping it is this, not relapse
