I would def ask! We ask more questions than any other patient (says Tonys docs) which helps us make the best possible decision for our family.
U of C has/had an immunotherapy trial (adult aml) but tony didn't qualify based on hla type. We ended up signing up for a KIR mismatch (never panned out bc the donor didn't receive the consent paperwork in time:( and also a preemptive DLI study. Oh and Also a post transplant CMV drug study
We were presented many options, and chose these. My point is; see all that's out there, ask many, many questions, be well researched and informed, and leave nothing on the table. WHen it comes to your son, I know you will do everything in your power to make the best choice possible!

Jacki -- I think you are right on target and this is definitely the hope for the future. The many articles I have seen on it related to other types of cancer -- I have not seen anything regarding AML. But no matter, the principles are the same and I believe that this approach will ultimately be developed for treating AML. I commend those trials and the many brave people who are participating in those trials. Without their sacrifices there would be no way that things could progress -- or it would be much more difficult and slow. I hope if anyone knows of any advances in this area that they will continue with this thread, and I appreciate your bringing this subject to our attention. -- dave
