Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

I have just caught up with all the posts as I was away with my children. We have sun in Ireland and that never happens.
For those of you entering the transplant protocol next week I will pray very hard for you.

Well here I am 11 months post transplant today I never thought this day would come. Flt3, npm1, bk virus and the lungs of an 80 year smoker( I'm 44) but I'm here here here.
When I was dx I thought I would die they told my husband if I survived 24 hours it would be amazing but I did. After induction I wanted to go to the states for treatment but insurance would not even consider it but in this tiny little country with one transplant centre and only 4 transplant haematologist they saved me. Thanks to all my drs, nurses, care assistants and those very precious blood donors.

Congratulations on 11 months post transplant, that is awesome. I am glad to hear you are out enjoying some sun. I guess you would not get the distinction of "Emerald Isle" if you had more sun. Must be a really special treat when it is sunny. You are right, there is a lot to be thankful for!
