Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
good news is I'm one year post stem cell transplant! Yay! Bad news is my ferritin levels are over 4500 which is iron overload. Dr wants to do therapeutic phlebotomy but says I'd need another central line. Ugh. Anyone else had this? Can I do it without a central line?

First thing I'll say about high ferritin is that it does not necessary mean you need phlebotomy. You need to have an iron study which requires An mri of your liver.
I unfortunately need phlebotomy and have had difficulties getting blood out. Hypothesis so not need central line. Please see my post on this topic

You do not need a central line, many have successful phlebotomy via normal means
Is Dr Tsai still your hematologist?
She's awesome
My husband has hemocromtos (sp?) and had to get monthly phlebotomies, no central line needed.
Limit your beef, turkey and dark grern veggies as they are high in iron.
