Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
I would hope this comes under the heading of good news -- I have been counting my survival time from the first of the year since Jan. 1, 2010 was about that time when I recovered from my final chemo round. So, today is my fifth re-birthday.
In trials they stop counting at five -- but since I am not in a trial, I think I will just go right on counting. I am looking forward to all of you sharing your birthdays with me for many, many years to come. I would hope being a youngster at 71 that I would have a few decades to go anyway.

I know you will keep using the years ,that Lord has given you, to be an encouragement and a light to all you meet. I know you have been a tremendous encouragement to me and the people on this forum.

I am not surprised that you have reached this great milestone. The world needs you far beyond those of us on DS. You have a purpose in life and that is to help keep all of our ships afloat, and you have done such a masterful job. When I think of our first discussions when I first joined, our philosophical agreements/disagreements with Ollie, and our shared sadness over those who didn't make it, it makes it all the more wonderful to read your words. Sharing a love of life is something that you do so well. In Judaism, a long life is set at 120 years. That is what I wish for you.

Your example of perseverance, faith and love is a shining light for me. We"met" virtually about two years ago via another blood cancer support group. The Holy Spirit told me to email you directly and you responded the next day inviting me to DS and your Bible thoughts.org site. Both have strengthened me so much. Your one on one emails too me when I was dxd sustained me as well.
Knowing your full journey with aml that started off with a very negative prognosis makes this milestone even more inspirational. If you'd listened to your first med team, you may not be with us. What a huge loss. Anyone interested can read it at Bible thoughts.org.
