Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Update on Jack, this past Wednesday he had his third BMB since he started the study in late Dec 2014. He had his first BMB 30 days and then second at 30 days after the first one since the results were good. This most recent one was at 60 days after the second BMB. Biopsy results showed no blast cells. It has been exciting news. We are so grateful to God for His many blessings. Although Jack still is coughing a ton, quite phelgmy and there's still shortness of breath he is slowly on the right path. This week Jack has been more fatigued that the past several weeks as his oncologist has been slowly lowering the dosage of predisone. Platelets were at 20 on Wednesday but no platelet transfusion as the team thought it may be good to put slight stress on the body so his own immune system can try to kick in.
The new study for asp2215 will be to add this drug to the normal 7+3 regimen of cytaribine/idarubcin to newly diagnosed AML patients. For those have relapsed or are newly diagnosed, I highly encourage you to find a center who is conducting this study.
Also FYI I have Jack on a concentrated herb along with his normal pills. It is a mushroom powder called coriolus versicolor. It is extremely well known within the Chinese community for cancer patients.
