Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Sorry for the lack of updates just to let you know we are home, have been for the last week.
Thought we would have been home beginning of June but end of July is close enough
Mum is making great progress with her rehab... when she got home she took 4 minutes to walk 10 meters.... only 1 weeks later and she is walking at least 30 - 40 meters around the house back and forth, and strength is increasing with all the yummy food she now is eating (she really in the end could not even stand the smell of hospital food )
Physio starts Monday in her home town, soon she will be scooting around...
Just for those "med" followers, interesting the strength has increased in the last week and the day before she left the hospital the BMT doctor reduced the cyclosporine by half ( she still has to take it ) .... I'm still on the theory that once she is clear of all drugs things will be better again :)

on the BMT / AML side i forgot to mention, bloods and really that are all perfect, but that doesn't surprise me we have done everything by the book and didn't waiver one day :)
