Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Jamies nubers continued enought that the doctor released him this afternoon. He is home for ten days then back for another bone marrow biopsy and consolidation. He had a big mac upon getting released said it tasted great!

Hi Jmysray,

what a great feeling when you can go home :) ...

When we had our break of 10 days, we tried to keep to a low bacteria diet + away from shopping centres, crowded places. We did take mum to cafes but made sure we sat outside away from everyone, she then onky had a coffee. She never ate at these places.

See if you can have him walk a little further each day ... his immune system is still very low so you should be trying to reduce the chances of infection

My understanding is they will do another bone marrow biopsy when he returns on next thursday. What we know now is they will be doing consolidation but could change depending on the latest bone marrow results.

Glad to hear he is out and feels good enough to enjoy his time out of the hospital. He's lucky that his taste buds havent went south on him yet. Have him eat as much as possible while he is feeling good.

Oh and my doc told me to stay away from restaurants unless i knew them really well and knew they were clean places. She told me NO TACO BELL!! I didnt ask why, just got a good laugh out of it.
