Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Anyone had experience with the following symptoms:
My sister has come up with several large round red areas that look like a sore kind of but she has gone to the doc and they have cultured them. It has only been 12 hours and the full report needs 72 but so far the results are negative.
She has now woken up this morning with her eye almost swollen shut. They gave her some antibiotic drops for the eye. They wanted to put her in the hospital and call in infectious disease doc but her daughter is due to have her baby any day and she is trying to avoid not being there for her. The docs are giving her one more day to see if the drops help but I'm worried. I tried to talk her into going into the hospital but, of course, she doesn't want to if she doesn't absolutely have to and they are letting her wait.
Anyone had symptoms like these? If so, can the chemo cause them? She is on Decitabine right now.

That is great news and I agree with Cecilia they can manage the effects from chemo.
