Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Two years ago, on Easter Sunday I lay in my hospital bed while receiving ironically, the red devil, aka idarubicin for induction. At this point I did not know my fate. Would I survive this process. Many of my contemporaries did not.
I begged, I pleaded with the God of the universe to spare me. To let me raise my precious daughters. By a miracle, I lived, I thrive, I overcame by the grace and love of almighty God.
Easter is all about God's unrelenting, unending, immeasurable love for all. And our requirement to love others. All of you show love. It has been said before but only God could give me the ability to love those I have never met. I am so grateful for each of you.
But on this day and every day I am so very grateful for the ultimate sacrifice of my Lord and Savior who gave His life for a sinner like me. HE died for all. HE rose for all. To teach us to truly live, we must die. Many of us understand this concept more than the average due to aml.

Beautiful post. On Friday, we had Tonys (almost) 9 month check up. We were there at 820 am for labs and then sat for the agonizing wait for the Dr. whom we finally saw at nearly 1030. As you all know, lab draws give me more anxiety then anything in this process and so this time I reminded myself of Cliffs latest post & instead of wanting to throw up, I sat quietly in the room, prayed, looked at pictures of Izzy, stayed calm and positive, and thought about the Hospital as a place of healing, honestly, for the first time since transplant day when I saw the bag of cells arrive! It was still difficult, but just a little better, so practice makes perfect. I'll continue to try to do better, to be better, for Tony!
After each clinic visit tony and I go to a small Chapel located on the University's campus to pray and give thanks. Although we are probably one of the youngest couple at the Heme/Onc clinic, we look around every day we are there and know that we have been blessed. Tony has been given a second chance at life, at being a daddy, and I feel so grateful
The tiny Chapel we go to is always empty, it is truly spectacular! if anyone knows the University of Chicago, it's full of ivy-covered limestone buildings mimicking Oxford University Collegiate gothic style, with the most beautiful architectural buildings & churches. I've ever seen. I could sit in this tiny silent little church for hours,. At first arriving I am always moved to tears, and then overcome with peace. This chapel is loaded with stained glass, and I took the time to study each panel after prayer on Friday, and on each window is one word, as I followed it around the 4 walls of the church, it read...
"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise
Be thankful unto Him and bless His name
And the peace of God which passeth all understanding
Shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. "
It is so fitting, and hard to put in words how I feel when I'm there. Tony is stoic, always has been, but many times he too has been overcome with emotion there as well. He must feel it's a safe place for emotional and spiritual release
now I'm not an outwardly spiritual person, I'm very private with that actually, but I just want you guys to know that I feel blessed for being brought here and to finding all of you.
