Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
33 y/o male, CMV negative, A+ blood type (same as mine).
Transplant tentatively scheduled for mid July. All great news!

Driving across the country to Stanford starting Friday. Going to enjoy family and friends along the way.
God has sent so many blessings I am overwhelmed. The most recent was us finding a house to rent near Stanford. It has a little guest house which we really wanted for people that come to help post transplant. We were concerned that if someone were to show up for three weeks to assist and suddenly get sick, we would have to send them home. With the guest house, we can put them in quarantine until better.
The Bay Area rental market is insane at the moment. The rent for this place (1600 sqft plus 250 sqft guest house) was 5500. Three couples, including us, were vying for it. When the owner told the other two that he was going to rent to us, they both offered 6500/month! When he told us of the other offers, I told him that we couldn't afford that and told him why. Sickness/Cathy taking a semester sabbatical/etc. He spoke with his wife who wanted to interview us on Skype. After the interview, he called us an hour later and said that he would rent at the original price since we were the "right couple"
I broke down I was so overjoyed. God's hands have been on so much in the past few weeks. Best of all, this place is only two miles from my daughters. I am so happy to finally be reunited with them in California after two tough years at sea and two more tough years on the Staff at the Pentagon.
I wanted to share all of this good news with you all. You are all in my prayers.

I believe almighty God is always guiding our steps but when we are on desperate need we are more sensitive to His blessings. I pray I don't lose the awe I felt while He carried me in the p Palm of His hand through my aml treatment. Praying for continued blessings
