Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Sorry it's been a while, as life has settled back to a little more like normal, I have been working alot more and haven't logged on. I find joy in reading the good news and progress for many and for those who have experienced a relapse I take comfort in knowing that you have great medical care and much support from your familes, friends and our group here to see you through your treatments.
Today marks 5 months to the day since my husband, Harry, received his stem cell tranplant. We went to see his doctor today and he couldn't be happier with how well he is doing. They are stopping two more of his meds and now he doesn't need to come back for 6 weeks. He went back to work in early May. He tires easy, but for the most part life is pretty much business as usual.
It was so weird for us to go a month since his previous appointment to today. I still get worried when he says he has a headache or is stomach doesn't feel right. I still nag him to eat more etc. Trying to ease off being caregiver so much, but after close to a year of being all consumed with his treatment and care it is difficult, I am sure with time that will become easier.
I am going to do my best to be on more, wishing everyone good health and happiness.

Thank you so much for the update on Harry-so glad to hear he is doing well!!!! It is so great for you two to be back to "business as usual" It is scary to stretch the time out between visits. Although I am chemo only, I have labs monthly and clinic visits every three months. Harry's SCT experience is an inspiration to me-he has done amazing. Thank you so much for the update!

Its great that the doctors are pleased and he is back doing normal stuff as much as possible.

That is great news. Worry less about Harry. He is doing well, so just rejoice in that. Discard the "what if's," because that kind of thinking won't get you anywhere.
Like Dave, my visits to the hospital are becoming less and less frequent, and I don't ruminate as much about my medical history as I did before. You will feel the worry start to retreat, the more Harry returns to his usual activities.
