Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
I have another question and i am a bit worried...i realize cancer isn't contagious...however ..i had stuck myself with an insulin needle after giving it to my friend a couple of weeks ago...this is a blood cancer so should i be worried?
Also i did bring him home last night and we did get a major snow storm...he is supposed to go back monday for most likely another transfusion. I will never be able to get there....we are getting over 2 ft of snow....even though i live in a major city it's a small side street. and right now the city is shut down till sunday morning.

One more day should not be a major issue for your friend. It is probably a bigger risk to go out on the roads, so wait till things get normalized -- it looks like another day or so should do it. We are praying for all of your -- daveB
