Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Checking in to see what the results of Jos bmb was. Praying for a clean biopsy
Julie
I know you guys say this is normal but the ups and downs of the lab counts are driving me crazy. She is learning to take it in stride and not let each drop of counts send her into a tailspin. Although this one was a little harder to take because it seemed that the shot had worked and her blood had finally started to produce on it's own.
I am so anxious about the bmb results. Do they usually take this long? She had it last Friday! I'm assuming no news is good news but surely they could have let us know something before this past weekend.

Since I know you have the inversion 16 also, how long did it take for you to get your bmb results? My sister called MDA again this afternoon and was told that hers is still not ready because the inv. 16 takes a little longer. She seems content with this answer but I am imagining all kinds of terrible things. I remember when she went home after induction and they did the bmb prior to her leaving, the results seemed to be back within a few days. When she left the hospital Friday a week ago, they told her to expect results by mid to late week. (that was last week) Just curious to see if yours ever took a long time to come back. Just a worry wart sister I guess.
I have never had to wait more than 24 hours usually les to get the preliminary no blasts. I have had seven. The only time it took over one week was when I had the initial diagnosis to determine the cryogenic and then at end of treatment. I still was able to get the preliminary no blasts the next day. This seems so strange to me and very cruel.
Praying for a clean bmb

Keep calling, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. My prayers are with you both.

You are a great sister. I do not have a sister but I tell my three daughters how blessed they are to have each other. Your love, care and concern is very apparent. I am so sorry you are having to wait such a long time for the results. I agree with Dave-squeaky wheel :-)
Praying for a clean biopsy,
Julie
I am so sorry you and Jo are having to suffer through this. It has almost been two weeks. I'm so sorry about Jos platelets. They are fickle things. She has had induction and two rounds of intense consolidation chemo. Her bone marrow may be very sensitive to the chemo which was my situation. Let's get past this bmb result and see if they lower her dose. It sounds like md trial is to get the chemo in over an eight month period. I took nine months due to slow count recovery. Praying for good results
Julie
