Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Since I completed my 4th session of consolidation for Inversion 16 AML!!!
Monday, Nov 17th was the actual 1 year anniversary but I wanted to wait until my lab and clinic visit today. I am so grateful to almighty God for today's results. I have struggled with slow platelet recovery since dx but all that is behind me because today for the first time since dx my platelets are officially in the "normal" range!!!

I was dx'd 20 months ago tomorrow. My journey has been very non-standard in many respects but I think most here realize, there is no standard. I was dx'd with no symptoms-my AML was discovered with routine bloodwork as a followup five months after surgery. I had an ANC at 0.02 for three months prior to dx without getting sick. My WBC was low, not high like most.
Also, I did not have a single infection or fever during my entire treatment. That was a miracle from God. My platelets took forever to recover (60+ days between consolidations) forcing my med team to reduce my dose of AriC from 3 to 2 to 1.5. Again, not the standard. I was told many times by my med team that I was officially outside of the "bell curve".
All that matters to me is that the "Great Physician" , my healer and savior has me in the palm of His hand. I believe His divine intervention has saved me for a purpose. The timeline of that purpose is a mystery to me-I pray it is long enough to raise my precious daughters, Ariel 14, Gianna 12 and Trinity 10.
I am so grateful to all of you for supporting, encouraging and most importantly praying for me. I praise God for each of you and pray for your continued healing.

Great to hear that things are progressing so well for you. While we do not discredit the amazing skills of the doctors and medical researchers in saving our lives, I applaud the fact that you give the ultimate credit to God for creating and enabling them to meet the challenges of pain and disease brought about by the corruption of this world. So glad you are still doing well! Great numbers! Can you believe that Julian's platelets were already 171,000 on Friday?! 35 days post-transplant. Happy stories are inspiring! Praise the Lord!
