Hi All,
Prior to my surgery in July, I suffered badly with water retention; hands swollen, puffy face & lips, bags under my eyes etc etc. A friend of mine had said that I looked like I'd been stung by a bee.
Within 24 hours after surgery I was unrecognisable, all swelling had gone, I looked really well and a lot younger too (always a bonus I guess)! I had to wee into containers for a few days after surgery, which I believe is to ensure that there are no immediate signs of diabetes insipidus. My urine output was very high compared to my input but within the limits to exclude diabetes insipidus. My endo confirmed that my body was releasing all the stored water that had made me look so unwell for so long.
Anyway, fast forward to now - I can feel my body retaining water again. Not as much as before but I have bags under my eyes, hands are starting to swell at times and I'm looking unwell again. My HGH is within normal limits and I'm still waiting for my latest IGF results, although I think they may still be a bit high.
Is anybody struggling with water retention? Is there a medication that can be taken to reduce swelling?
Any advice would be really appreciated before I turn into the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Jokey - after I posted on here I received some results of blood tests that I had last week, one of which was for thyroid function. All were good. My blood pressure is a bit high though, I'll mention this next week.
Carebear - I think you might be right, maybe I'm expecting too much too soon. It's just disheartening to see old symptoms coming back. Medication was mentioned at my last appointment, I guess it depends on what my IGF results are now. How long have you been on meds for?
