vision problems

Anybody else have experience with vision problems? My vision field tests after surgery did not show any problems. It has been 2 years since surgery. There was pressure on the optic nerve from the tumor. Now I am having trouble in my left eye. I have worn glasses most of my life, but now they can't refract my left eye. Dr. is trying to figure out why I see some letters on the line, but not all. Planning to do a more comprehensive Goldmann visual field test in early Feb. Starting to get paranoid.

I had a catract in on eeye that was pretty bad then the doc operated he said I have another catract and he wanted to watch it...
he did not think it was realted to acro...and I did not find any info that it would but I think it might be...I wasonly 48 so I think it is wierd although i did read while rare cataracts do occur in younger people...I know this is different then what your experiencing but I just thought I would mention it....I know that nagging feeling of doubt you are experiencing but try to dodge it!!!

How many of us have a history of hight prednisone (or other steroids) usage ? I was told that I have had small cataracts forming for years now and that they might be related to all the high doses of prednisone I've been on - mostly for controlling asthma but for some reason DS has prednisone listed as a treatment choise for acromegaly, too. Just trying to give some food for thought.......

I had some peripheral (spelling) issues off and on before my surgeries, but they cleared up. Sometimes the tumor can hang on the nerve or press against it & cause visual problems...have you had an MRI or CT recently?

My tumor damaged my optic nerve before de-bulking surgery. My field vision in my right eye is substandard and probably won't improve. They tell me my eyes are healthly but it is the connection to the brain that is damaged. I can see some letters on a line but not all. It's like a fog in my right eye.

I had an MRI in Oct. that didn't show anything. However, my IGF-1 a month ago showed my level was up, though still in normal range. Bjos- it is scary to think it might be nerve damage. My latest theory is that there are scattered "points" on my retina that are not transmitting the signals. When I blink, my eyes move slightly, allowing the light rays to hit a different spot that IS working. Thus, the changing spots I can read. I am sure you are right that it won't improve. My concern is will it get worse? Won't know anything until the test on Feb. 6.

Don't worry too much - it may not be anything at all to do with the compression of the optic chiasm.

You might have lipid deposits on your retina near the fovea - if that is the case treatment with simvastatin (used normally to treat cholesterol) can normally improve things very effectively over a few months.

I have a few of them on my retina of my left eye, but they're not affecting my vision. They were found when the optician took a photo of my retina (just ask for a retinal scan from your optician - it's completely painless).

Ignore what I just wrote - I just noticed you said that you couldn't refract your eye, so that's nowt to do with the retina then.
