This conditon is so bizzare and does not follow any pattern ..things we go through mimic normal things and some maybe are due to the conditon..my nails grew quickly and all I would get omg are they real..youre so lucky..I have had comments on the natural curls of my hair..although my hairdresser Im sure retired early due to hair and the amount of cutting LOL..we had a discussion done on how tall are you would come to the conclusion we are all tall but again no pattern..talk about confuse anyone so its hard to answer is it due to the conditon..I only had problems walking before I was diagnosed but it was due to me being anemic and I guess hate to admit it I was overweight again some argue this conditon does not make you put on weight..I also ached I felt like my bones were being pulled by an medieval rack its hard to explain..nobody never mentioned my walk..my walk now is different since I run around since Ive been on my hyper drug LOL

My husbands nails are growing quickly too! And his hair. Thats funny! He is only 5'7" tall. And he is very thin. It is like this disease sucked the life out of him. I see other people put before they were diagnosed their muscles grew but his decreased and he became weak.

Hi. My nails grow like weeds too. So does my stubble. Have you or your husband spoken to a Neurologist about his limp? I would only be surmising an uneducated guess, but maybe it had something to do with the pressure of the tumor on his surrounding nerves and neural tissues, in which case relieving that, the brain is remarkable in rebuilding fixing pathways... When he concentrates on it enough he walks steady.

I developed perminent Diabetes Insipidus and take a DDAVP Nasal Spray that controls the urge to urinate etc... It is a nasty annoying condition!! God bless your Husband I am sure he will be fine :0)

So, the doctors say this Diabetes Insipidus is "rarely" permanent. Doesn't really seem that rare on this site.

I wanted to add you do have to rule out other things but with myself I went through a stage of memory issues I think it was because my body had an overload and my coping skills were to concentrate on getting better..I went through a point of not being able to count in tens I was working in a job and couldnt do it..I was standing in tears going whats wrong with me..I was grateful to a worker who helped me out kept being my guardian angel.. and yes as some members know I lost my writing skills..another hurdle Ive had to overcome fight back ..like youre husband I had to fight to concentrate..Im not saying this is same as youre husband but its an area to look into do we loose some things gain other things.yes this conditon can suck the life out of us but we can fight back..Im proof of this

Does he have aches and pains? My husband's walks a bit strange, but it's due to his heel growth and compensating for knee and back pain for years.

What was your husband's post op GH level?

I forgot to add, his nails and hair will stop growing so fast if the surgery works. My husband couldn't make it 4 weeks between haircuts and now he can last 7 to 8 weeks between cuts.

Post GH level 1.7. He complains mostly about the carpal tunnel. But that has improved. And he had always been strong but felt physically weaker before the surgery. Now 12 days past surgery he is slowly getting his strength back daily. Going to ENT doctor today for check up. Also, got a letter from our insurance company that denied paying our ENT surgeon. Apparently, he wasn't needed???? Ugh.

That GH level is a good sign! Now, let's hope his DI resolves. I wouldn't stress too much about the insurance issue. It's fairly common to see. Our initial ENT claim was denied, but it was resubmitted and approved. There can be coding errors, etc.

I'd make sure he's very careful right now. We don't want him tripping or falling. If this continues, you might want to get him back in with the neurosurgeon sooner than later. Our neuro made my husband walk across the room at every appointment. Has your neurologist had your husband walk back and forth in front of him?

He only has a neurosurgeon not a neurologist. Or is that the same thing?

tbeckner..I wanted to say many of us have found this conditon very frustrating and it can get overwhelming trying to sort medical things out..the medical profession can say one thing you read others it can certainly take its toll on sufferers and loved ones.youre husband is one lucky guy same as worried wifes husband you are both just the best ever..

I'm sorry, that was my mistake. I meant to say neurosurgeon, not neurologist. I always thought it was kind of funny that they made him walk around the room, but maybe there is a good reason for it.

Yep, I had more hair growth pre op too. I save money on harcuts now! Plus my leg muscles really grew! All that GH I suppose. Sadly, I lost some of my muscular growth after surgery. But this is a small price to pay for getting that GH down!
