Acromegaly Support Group
Acromegaly (from Greek akros "high" and megas "large" - extremities enlargement) is a hormonal disorder that results when the pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone (hGH). Acromegaly most commonly affects middle-aged adults and can result in serious illness and premature death. Join the group to discuss symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments.
With an OGTT test, they are generally looking for the GH to be less than 1 ng/ml after the sugar load as one of the tests to exclude acromegaly.

In these results the GH level is rising after a glucose load, instead of going down.
In a normal subject the GH would go down after a sugar load.
Although anything above 1 ng/ml isn't what you are after, they haven't shot up to above massively (say, above 10 ng/ml), and the figures drop quite rapidly!
As point of encouragement though, your fasting GH of 0.99 ng/ml is great. If randomly during the day they were all less than 2.5ng/ml then that would be great!
The glucose figures (in isolation) do not indicate you have Impaired Glucose Tolerance, or have Diabetes Mellitus. That's good!
Your doctor can go through this and explain it a lot better than I can, and will have other previous tests to compare it against too.
It's amazing how incredibly sweet the sugary drink is!

I should've explained that this is my third OGTT - second since my surgery. The very first one was positive, without a doubt - GH went from 6-8-9-7, something like that. The second was positive, but barely - GH peaked at 2.1, but did increase after sugar. This one looked really wonky to me.
My IGF-1 has not been high since my surgery, but high-ish. It's hard to trust, though, because I also have Cushing's, so the cortisol sort of intercepts the GH (or so I've been told).
I also have a "new" tumor, so it looks like I'll be heading to surgery again, hopefully soon. Any other input would be great.
Thanks, again!
