Snoring

My partner informed me the other day that my snoring is doing his head in.....I had no idea about this , i've never been a snorer apart from when i've had a cold. Apparently I always snore now and am heard despite his wearing of earplugs( he is a light sleeper so took to wearing these ages ago to block out outside noises) so it appears I have more to add to my list. Had thought my voice had deepened and got croaky number years ago so this would appear to be relevant..... bit pants for him as I spend a lot of time sleeping at the mo.

Sounds about right.

When my partner was spending more of the night most nights in the spare room, I knew my snoring was getting bad. She too had earplugs (from her motorbike days) and was wearing them every night but they just weren't doing enough..

Of course at the start, I didn't know the snoring was anything to do with the acromegaly, but I know now.

Thankfully, post-op, I am back to snoring only when I have a cold.

I have been a freight train snorer for years but recently I began having problems with my breathing during the day. I convinced the doctor to send me for a sleep study. Today I found out that I have severe sleep apnea. According to the study, I stop breathing 40 times per HOUR!! That is almost every minute. Talk about scary. I would take your snoring seriously and have a study done. I wish I had years ago. I wonder now how much damage the lack of O2 has done to my system.

You may have sleep apnea, which can develop from Acromegaly.

yes, go to your doctor and ask for a sleep study. i did and had abot 30 stops per hour. had to start with a cpap machine. takes time to getting used to, but well worth it.

Me too. I am on the heavy side and attributed the snoring to that. It was the doctor I saw for the sleep study who pointed out physical features (tongue size, throat tissue) were likely making my snoring severe. Those clues are what allowed me to connect the dots with other symptoms and that is how I finally was diagnosed. The CPAP machine works; although I hope to retire it sometime post surgery!

don't wanna rain on anyone's parade but myself & most of my friends from the acrofamily don't get the luxury of retiring our cpap & bipap machines :-(

I just call my mask the extraterrestre becausee I feel like it's an alien on my face......

Ok. I will consider the CPAP to be permanent and then will be pleasantly surprised if by some good fortune I don't need it anymore. A girl can dream...
