pain relief

For those who suffer/suffered badly with joint pain, what do you use for pain relief? My hips are getting increasingly worse esp during night( waking lots to change position) and it feels relentless, only way I can think of to describe is woodpeckers trying to peck they're way out....think there is something going on with my femoral heads.... anyway currently take celecoxib twice day and cocadamol 30/500 which is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, doesn't even help with headaches...so any one out there found effective pain relief??? My daughter tried quite a few painkillers,the only one that seems to work is a Tablet called Acupan, the pain management centre doc prescribed them for her, I also tried them for my arthritic knee, they were useless,same old story what works for one, doesnt for another.but shes pleased with them.

did you ever consider a cortisteroid shot? I had such severe hip pain, my orthopedist gave me a shot and it helped very much, pain gone. There is also another name for it Kenalog (spell) injection.

Hi Ulrikect, I've had steroid injections in my knee but the last one did nothing ....I also take a DMARD (disease modifying anti rheumatic drug) for arthritis however as you now know I suspect acromegaly is the culprit and not an inflammatory arthritis. Have had various orthopaedic surgeries in last 3 years too but as yet no investigations or imaging on hips .Over the course of the last year my joint pain has crept symetrically around my body yet I have no redness, heat, overt swelling as such just stiffness pain and lots of noises :)

Speigal I may ask to try acupan, thanks for that.... its all trial and error esp with pain management x

Are you taking Plaquenil? I was on it for 5 years (Lupus) never did anything for joint pain.Did you ever try Prednisone? I am allergic to Prednisone, so I take Medrol and Ultram for pain. I have to say it helps. The shots helped for my back and hip pain. Do you have a pituitary tumor or acromegaly?
