I'm a 30 year old guy who is newly diagnosed (today, in fact). I started having horrible headaches, like the worst pain in my life, about 2 and a half months ago. I thought they were just particularly bad migraines, but after two weeks of having them every night and thinking I was going to stroke out or something, I started seeing doctors. My primary doctor led me to a headache specialist who led me to an MRI. The day after my first MRI I received a call that something was off, and was told that I could have something called an adenoma. This led me to a second (and eventually 3rd) MRI over the next month, at which point I was told I officially had a pituitary macroadenoma, just over 2 cm in diameter. My journey has since sent me to an opthamologist (vision is good, uneffected), a CT scan (discovered the tumor is growing through my sinus bones, which is the most likely cause of my headaches), a neurosurgeon and an endocrinologist. My endoxrinologist ordered blood tests on Monday (about 80 days after my first skull-splitting headache) and today my endo confirmed acromegaly. Surgery is scheduled for 5 weeks from now, which is kind of devastating to me because I can't stand the thought of waiting so long now that I know I have this growing tumor, and this disease, inside me. I dont know what to expect from the surgery. I dont know what kind of follow up to expect for the acromegaly diagnosis. And I don't know how worried I should be. If anyone can leave me a comment of having gone through this same thing, it would be greatly appreciated.
