I found the MOST AWESOME one that I will have to look hard to relocate when I am back home and have access to my own computer (am away at the moment) It's made of some sort of metal, like stainless steel, (I think)and it has a star of life on it and it looks like an envelope and opens like one too and contains a waterproof piece of paper with enough room to put lots of info like what most acromegalics would need to have on their medical records. Believe it or not I recently actually had a witchy triage nurse start laughing out loud while I was answering her questions about my medical history when she realized how much there was. Flouncy, with your allergies, with the meds and with the acro, the medical alert I have might work well or you might just have any plain alert and then carry an ICE card on your person with more detailed information. Also, ICE is recommended to be entered on your cell phones to represent In Case of Emergency and then emergency personnel are being trained to look for that to contact someone if they find you in a situation where you are unable to tell them whom to contact. Another issue my endocrinologist was concerned about before I had my surgery was that the tumor could start spontaneously hemmorhaging for no reason so she pushed me to wear an alert for that and for the diabetes. I mention that so that those of you who have not yet had surgery might consider having something about their pituitary adenomas on their medic alerts or on their ICE cards, because if that happens will need help quickly, even though it would be an unlikely occurrence. The concern about hemmorhaging (I'm too lazy to look up the spelling so I hope I have it right....) is for people who have NOT had the surgery and still have the tumors. The endocrinologist said they can sometimes spontaneously start bleeding for no reason. She said it's rare, but she was concerned and wanted me to be prepared and have some sort of medical alert jewelry so that I could have help in a hurry because it would be similar to having an aneurism burst.

rose, the one i am talking about getting i think is like the one you are talking about...lol it is a water proof bit of paper that is inside like a capsuale on the bracelet, opens up and everything is on it. unlike these other medical bracelts around where you justt have a medical number of your own and the medics have to phone a number and they tell them everything that you have got etc etc. too much messing about if you ask me especially in an emergency!! had a chat with my hubby and i will be getting one pay day : ) so will let you know what its like. i didnt know about the hemmorging...dont think i can spell either..lol

another cool idea is to have a USB key with all your medical data on it and a star of life on the outside of it. Some companies are selling them with the star of life on them for a small fortune, but I would just get a plain inexpensive one and print out an image of the star of life to put on it and seal it with packaging tape.

I forgot to mention that it would be a good idea to include ICE on the outside of it and include that date on the USB key, too....

that is the coolest idea ever!!! hospitals have computers and to just plug it in and there you go all info right there and you can update it everyday if you needed to. like when you have to have your medication when it was last taken etc. brilliant idea. will be using mine now and getting my white sticker on ther and drwaing I.C.E on one side and the sos on the otherside. brilliant pure genius idea that!

The USB key could be kept on your key ring and the ICE information card could be kept next to your driver's permit and medical insurance card. If you go out for a walk or a bike ride you probably would have your keys with you and the USB key would be on it. You don't have to have something that says ACROMEGALY on one charm and DIABETIC on another and HYPERTENSIVE on another and keep going w/the allergies and the asthma and the medication and so on

I printed a couple, and laminated them. It was recommended to keep one near your driver's permit in case you are unconcious and a medical rescuer is searching for your ID.
