I read that birth weight is not connected with acromegaly. People were born too big, too small or too normal, but still I have a question.
"The term macrosomia is used to describe a newborn with an excessive birth weight"... "it is connected with excess of growth factors during foetal life."
It is my case, I was born big (5kg), this weight cannot be explained by the regular reasons for macrosomia (diabet, tall parents and all other "normal" reasons...).
50 years later I have an acromegaly... Also rare and connected with growth factors. Hard to believe it is a coincidence.
My question is : am I alone or do some people here have both acromegaly and were born with a macrosomia ?
Could be interesting to see if we share unfrequent features of acro. For me : hypoglycemia, hypotension, too tall, to skinny, GH clearly raise with HGPO... + Some early symptoms during childhood that can be connected to acro...

So - I am assuming no macrosomia here.
The only hormonal anomaly in my family is that my mum went through a fairly early menopause (beginning mid 40s) . There is no known predisposition to diabetes/hypoglycaemia in my family.

There is a man from U.K called gary tiplady,he has acromegaly and is 7ft 3ins,he works as a lookalike for roles made famous by richard kiel,he weighed 16lbs when born,but his childhood was normal until 17 years of age when the growth excellerated,there is loads on the internet about him.
