Thanks to everyone for sharing your personal stories. I only stumbled on this group last night and have found it extremely heartening and informative.
I am a 32 y/o male and a recent blood test showed IGF-1 of 341. I have a follow-up appointment with my doc in two weeks to test for acromegaly. I’m driving myself a little crazy with Google, so I was hoping that someone could help me frame up how to view these results. I’m otherwise healthy and fit. The blood work was done while looking for a cause of my persistently low T (total T usually in the 200’s, doctors kept dismissing as “stress” and I really had to press the issue). I haven’t noticed any changes to my appearance but I’ve had a strong jaw since puberty. I’m a stocky build 5’10’’ 180lbs.
Are my IGF-1 levels so high that acromegaly is a given? Could other factors be elevating that number (lifestyle: I exercise often, diet: high in protein)? If there were no tumor on my pituitary could these levels actually be ideal from an athetic perspective (running my first triathalon this year) or should I be worried about heart damage.

I did the oral glucose tolerance test and it came back normal. I think my doc is content to leave it, but I have a follow up with him next month. Thanks for asking!
