Acromegaly (from Greek akros "high" and megas "large" - extremities enlargement) is a hormonal disorder that results when the pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone (hGH). I had surgery for acromegaly. The tumor returned.
I had gamma knife irradiation. It was successful.
Now, perhaps 8-10 months later (I'm terrible at keeping track of time), I am recovering from about a 3 day cold or flu.
Two things: One, I was so sick I sat a lot. My legs hurt. As night comes on, the nerves, nut just in my legs, feel swollen, with pain and discomfort such that I can't sleep, no matter how I lay, without pain medication.
Also, the toes in my left foot I dare not bend in the slightest, or automatically, I will get a Charlie horse.
Is there any element of this that relates to the acromegaly? Or does anyone have suggestions what else it could be?

I am so glad you made this post. I thought I was going out of my mind. I, too, suffer with terrible foot and toe cramps, as well as cramps in my calves. I endure awful pains in my legs that radiate like electricity flowing through me. It use to be I would feel this leg pain just before I would be due for my next injection of Sandostatin, but now the pain is every day and gets worse when I am due for a shot.
Are you undergoing any treatments or have had surgery for a adenoma? How and when did you get diagnosed? How long did you suffer before you were diagnosed? I think you may be on to something. I look forward to hearing back from you.

I may sit too much and that may be part of the trouble with my legs. I also tend to drink an insufficient amount of fluids, which I've been told can be a cause of cramps.
At this point: I just don't know.
