Acromegaly Support Group
Acromegaly (from Greek akros "high" and megas "large" - extremities enlargement) is a hormonal disorder that results when the pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone (hGH). Acromegaly most commonly affects middle-aged adults and can result in serious illness and premature death. Join the group to discuss symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments.
It is up to no 1 to think before thinking and pick the choise in what to say/do=
toe power of thought is my own... acro or no acro.
But yes!! our emotional body is more tender.
Personal experience : when acro symptoms are up, I feel angry, or want to cry more frenquently. When symptoms "forget me", am very stable emotionaly.
There were times before my diagnosis that I actually thought I was mentally ill. Honestly, I could not understand why I cried all of the time, and why I had no patience with anyone. My moods changed faster than the weather. My sister once told me that she thought I was bipolar. I have to say that since the surgery and the medication, I feel somewhat normal, and in retrospect have a lot of guilt for the way I acted. I am sure I was not easy to live with. All I can do now is to try to be the best person I can. On those days that I do feel emotional, I make it a point to go to the gym, or listen to my relaxation CD's. We have to forgive ourselves, as we have a rare disease that most people (even ourselves)do not fully understand. Take care, Mishxx
A great autobiographic documentary about depersonalization is "Tarnation" by Jonathan Caouette [american movie]. If you can find it on the Net, interesting.
There are solutions for hypercalcemia either medically and/or surgically. This is also known as hyperparathyroidism. Parathyroid glands produce or control the hormone to produce calcium.
Yes, your depression may be in your head literally. Get your calcium checked and explore options presented if it is too high.
