I just wanted to say I had forgotten how nice it was.

OK, so I am still waking up around 5 or 6 am most days, but I can't remember (pre-op) sleeping a solid six or seven hours for absolutely ages.

Just before heading for surgery I was diagnosed with only very mild sleep apnoea ("borderline normal"), so the sleep clinic wouldn't even have considered my lousy sleep to have been that bad!. I have every sympathy for those with more severe apnoeic symptoms.

I am drug option and one thing thats been brilliant is I am not always tired in photos I always seem as if I was asleep.I get a good nights sleep some days it is a struggle but oh to do more things without that horrendous tireness and stay awake more is so nice.

Isn't it just?

Post surgery, I've just got to wait now for my nose to get back to normal. I am still advised to not blow it, and it has got very dry. Consequently I wake up, mouth wide open, dry, thirsty and headachy in the early hours.

I still class it as a minor miracle that I can sleep so long broadly uninterrupted!

Had my surgery Nov '08. Prior to that I was lucky to sleep 3 hours a night. Now I am sleeping 7 hours a night without waking up. It took 8 days before I could breath out of my nose. What a feeling when you can! Good luck to you.

Hi! Just joined the group.
I was diagnosed in Feb 2008 and they removed most of the tumor surgically.
Before I had my surgery I used to be able to sleep just about anywhere. I could sleep for 12 hs. but I snored! well that's un understatement once one of my neighbours even made a comment about the sound I made! Had to wait until my fiancee had fallen asleep to fall asleep myself!
Used to be relaxed most of the time though now I know I was simply tired!
Now I usually sleep 6 to 8 hs. I hardly ever wake up tired I DO NOT SNORE anymore! everybody is happy!
Nevertheless I miss sleeping till late during the weekends!

I was given a mist to help with the dryness in my nose and actually my neuro nose doc said most people woudl benefit from it...it was just a saline mist...I use it in the winter..I also use flonase...I have to say I was waking up 8-10 times a night prior to surgery...now I wake up about 3 times...and will often sleep 4-5 hourse straight....it does feel great to sleep that much...still most of my friends are shocked thta I wake up that much...

I am glad to know that you are getting better sleep. Nothing is worse than not feeling well rested! I cant help but just mention that my situation is the reverse of yours. Before surgery, I could not get enough sleep. I would pass out at midnight and then be exhausted if I couldnt sleep at least until noon the next day. 2 pm would be ideal. Then I would shower to get ready for my classes and end up skipping them because I had to go back to sleep for at least 2 more hours. Then, the morning after surgery, I woke up at 8 am and have ever since. Its just amazing how my sleeping habits have changed for the better. Like I said, though I seem to have been to your opposite Im glad things have worked out for you too.
