Abstinence & Celibacy Support Group
The pressures of sex from peers, the media and culture can be overwhelming, but you are in total control of your body and celibacy is a choice that many are making. Find sanctuary with people who are choosing to abstain without fear of judgment.

Hi im new to this group. To sum me up: im 29, never been on a date, never been kissed, and never had sex. I truly believe there is something wrong with me. Im beginning to feel uncomfortable around my friends that have known me the longest, as I am always wondering what they think. They know ive never had a boyfriend. And most of my friends, ive known for around 10-15 yrs or so now. Anyways, I was just wondering what yall thought. I feel like a freak.

There is nothing wrong with being a virgin! I am one myself!

To throw away your virginity with someone who means nothing to you, would only cause you to feel worse. Time is required to find someone who will not only care for you, but you can wake up to in the morning, and feel no regret. Unlike a job, once you lose your virginity, you cannot get another one, so be sure it would be with someone special. All because that person hasn't come yet, doesn't mean they won't, and that alone, your desire to stay a virgin until you find someone special is enough to your friends, if they're worth being friends with. Do you not find men attractive at all, or have you just not found the right guy for you?

Thanks for replying! I don't think there is anything wrong with being a virgin, sometimes im quite proud of it. :) And im definately attracted to men, I just have terrible anxiety. Panic attacks. One time my sister tried to fix me up, and I freaked out. Total panic attack. I've always been this way. And I never let anyone get close. Ever. Dont know why.... i'm just concerned that I am always going to be alone. I am sorta shy, at first, but once you get to know me, im very outgoing. I just dont understand ME. lol. thank yall for the advice!!

As for that, do you have any male friends you know of, that you have any feelings for? If so, you could always try to talk to them in a comfortable environment, such as online first, or if not, you could try finding someone online who you could talk to first, be comfortable with then hopefully meet. It seems you just want to avoid going to a loud bar and hooking up with someone there, heh.

Your situation does sound very difficult and I don't blame you for being very concerned. I'm wondering if you have tried any treatments for the anxiety. Sometimes anxiety or similar ailments can consume us so that we are not really able to relate in a healthy way to another person. You sound like a very caring person with a lot to give; I bet you would be a great Big Sister or other such volunteer. And maybe it could help you with the relationship issues.
