Hi, I'm Xenia. I'm 21 years old and today is Day One of my celibacy. This is new and hard for me. Because I made the decision to give up sex for change in my life. I want a job that is going to have me busy but paid. I want my next relationship to be with someone that wants to build with me and there is some things I want to do in my life before getting in a relationship. I was Celibate before but had a slip, and the crazy thing is if your Celibate and encounter someone you would be clear headed when you start talking to someone.

I started reading The Wait by Megan Good. That book is so helpful and would teach you so much and help with this life change.

Now I am not staying Celibate until marriage, I am staying Celibate until I meet a man that wants a long relationship and I am ready to give him my body like that.

It is great that you are trying to be celibate!! Im 25 and have done it for a year now. Didn't have sex until i was 20 and i thought it was with that special someone but he and multiple other guys after that just ended up using me. I eventually settled on a guy and thought we were in love but in the end it didn't work either and i felt even worse after having sex with him for that whole time. I not only just shared my body but shared it for 2 years along with my emotions. Sex with him was meaningful and when we broke up i felt like crap for sharing all that with him. I know it is very hard but i encourage you to take the next step and attempt to stay celibate until marriage because if a guy is willing to wait until marriage to have sex with you i can assure you he will be your forever. Every boyfriend is able to hold off for a couple months to have sex with you if that means he can have you for a bit afterward. But even after dating for a year that doesn't mean he will stay with you. I know from my own experiences and from many of my friends. If you can do it hold off on sex for as long as you can and believe me it will be worth it!!

I am proud of you for making this decision. Your body is a special gift from God. I hope you are frequenting some places where you will find a man of character. I would also suggest turning off the TV and avoiding movies where there is no relationship...just sex. Sex should be within the context of marriage because that is the way God says it should be....it is not the way the world says it should be.

I agree with suet. I wish I could go back to 21, would have never made the slip ups that I did. You'll be alright :)

"The Wait" was also a big inspiration for me to become celibate. There is so much more we are capable of accomplishing and doing if we don't have sex clouding up our minds. Also, I want a real connection with whomever I marry so we can be together forever. No divorcing lol.
