"Practical experience shows that nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics.
It works when other activities fail.
Life will take on new meaning.
To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends-this is an experience you must not miss.
We know you will not want to miss it.
Frequent contact with newcomers and with each other is the bright spot of our lives. "

For instance, I started doing Step 12 work as soon as I had formally gone through the rest of the programme with my sponsor.
The way in which we stay sober is through our HP and intensive works with other alcoholics, not sitting around meetings for two years getting a free ride. No criticism of you here Alice, but your group are doing you no favours at all here!! You just have no idea what you are missing!
The longer you are sitting around having no responsibility for message carrying the harder it will be when it's their time for you to start.
You know when you have nothing to do at work and you're bored out of your skull??? Then you finally get some work to do and you just can't be arsed to do it? Same effect!
Pity you can't find a group which is fulfilling it's primary purpose - you would be having a brilliant time out there 12th stepping, helping another alkie to save their lives - what a shame!
And, got a call from a sponsee who I asked I call her later to talk, so Step 12 will be happening later.
