The admin team would like to apologise for any part that they played in the events on the group on Saturday 18th July. Several posts were made which gave concern to a member of the admin team. In the heat of the moment actions were taken taken in haste where things may have been handled better if a little more time and reflection had been taken. This resulted in several posts being deleted and a member of the group being temporarily banned. Some of this may have been able to be avoided or at least done more smoothly if the procedures for deletion of posts and banning of members were more defined and more transparent to the members of the group.
In order to stop events such as these the admin team will shortly be posting a thread relating to guidelines for the group and the procedures for deletion of posts and banning of members. The admin team do not wish to be controllers of the group and with that in mind the group will be as self regulating as possible. Action by the admin team will cover only conduct relating to unacceptable behaviour such as swearing, personal attacks on members or their posts etc.
Hopefully in this way we will have a group which runs more smoothly and is a friendly and respectful place to be.

There are absolutely no "A.A. police" having anything at all to say about that!
If there is any way any two or more alcoholics calling themselves an A.A. group could pay a little rent here, that group could conduct its open meetings in the present format of this board while also having a weekly "closed meeting" either via email or PMs or in private chat somewhere else and not be in violation of any A.A. Tradition.
I do realize that is not likely to happen here, yet those are the facts of at least that particular matter.
Please forgive me for being a bit abrupt there, Gail, and I thank you for the fine example of your response! For myself, that kind of consideration can mostly only be a learned behaviour.
Trusted servants perform the will of the group, and that gives them "power" to enforce the group's conscience.

No. I easily tolerate my three-year-old granddaughter's occasional mis-speaks, but she will not grow up believing profanity and "grown up" are compatible.
