The aa way of life is the way we always should have tried to live.
Grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change.
The courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference
These thoughts become apart of are daily lives
They are not ideas of resignation but the recognition of certain basic facts of living.

The key word here for myself is "should have" but since I didn't have a clue what it was like until I surrendered and took direction to learn. Today I can relate and work on this to the best of my ability.

For me the keyword is God. In asking him to give me these things, peace, courage, wisdom, I am surrendering to him. I'm asking for his strength to get through life. And I ask it daily. Apart from it being the prayer at the end of AA meetings here in Aussie, I have the Serenity Prayer on my mirror, and I read it every morning. CM xxx

Ha Ha, the serenity prayer is on a plaque aside my front door on the outside, in a huge painting over my dining room table and in my living room!

I didn't know how well it worked in the beginning until I tried it!!

Di, it took me forever to understand that wisdom bit lol. I'd read it over and over, and think, damn what does that mean. What am I asking God for here. I was one of these people back then that could read, and read, and read, sit for an exam out of any book and pass 100%. My sponsor used to get so frustrated, but thankfully he was patient and we worked the steps at a pace where I could fully grasp and understand them. Step 4 was my OH! moment for the Serenity Prayer. Sometimes I felt so stupid, but my mind was so rigidly set it took me a while to comprehend each step. When we'd make a breakthrough it was like OHHHhhh. CMxxx
