Surrender

On the face of it,
surrendering certainly does not seem like winning.
But it is in AA
Only after we have come to the end of our rope,
hit a stone wall in some aspect of our lives
beyond which we can go no further;
only when we hit "bottom" in despair and surrender,
can we accomplish sobriety which we could
never accomplish before.
We must, and we do, surrender in order to win.

What i found very Interesting after lol! becoming willing to believe for Me ,help was needed and that through making a Surrender to the fact that "The first Drink is always gonna get me Drunk" I gained a new perspective on what my life had become while being ruled by " King Alcohol". Which led to freedom to look at all the stuff connected with "Why it was I needed to define myself as Damaged goods" and decide to Get Better" :) "Across the Board"

When I was a teenager playing hockey I had a coach that would always say surrender and or defeat wasn't an option. That was instilled in my brain for a very long time. Come to find out I had to do both if I wanted a chance for recovery.

surrender is to an army the worst option however many of our US troops have found surrendering in AA the way to recovery...lots of guys/gals in GI uniforms are lost in drunkeness while they are off their duty....

I've heard ever so often that we have to totally lose in order to win.Accepting that for the very first time in my life gave me a new chance at a new life!!! There was really nothing left for me,every bridge was burned including the relationships I had with my family.No one wanted any part of me anymore.I hated to give in & admit defeat but I had no other choice except for dying.So with my tail between my legs I walked back into the rooms of A.A.The rest is history,my last drink was 1/28/06.I thank God every morning for keeping me sober & I thank him at night for keeping me safe.I always kid around with my sponsor when I tell him that if this is as good as it gets then I'm O.K. with that(LOL)!!!
